It outlines the reasonable and intended use of the service.

1. Purpose of the Policy

This Policy aims to:

  • Define the scope of "fair use" for the $1/day IT support service.

  • Prevent excessive or unreasonable demands that could impact service quality for other users.

  • Ensure the service is used for personal, non-commercial IT support needs of seniors.

2. Eligibility

This promotion and its associated Fair Use Policy apply to:

  • Individuals aged 65 years or older (or as defined by New Zealand Superannuation eligibility).

  • Residents of New Zealand.

  • The service is intended for personal, non-commercial use only.

3. Scope of Support

The $1/day IT support service is designed to assist with common personal IT issues faced by seniors, including but not limited to:

4. What is NOT Included (Examples of Unfair Use)

The service is not intended for, and may be considered unfair use if consistently requested for:

  • Commercial or business support: Any IT issues related to a business, home-based business, or commercial activities.

  • Hardware repair or replacement: Physical repairs, parts replacement, or warranty claims for devices.

  • Data recovery services: Recovering lost or corrupted data from hard drives or other storage.

  • Advanced networking: Complex network configurations, server management, or smart home system integration.

  • Software development or coding assistance.

  • Extensive one-on-one training sessions: While basic guidance is provided, the service is not a substitute for formal IT training courses.

  • Support for illegal activities or content.

  • Excessive or repetitive requests: Submitting an unreasonably high volume of support requests that go beyond the typical needs of a personal user, especially if the same issue recurs due to user action rather than a technical fault.

  • Sharing of accounts: Allowing individuals who are not the registered senior subscriber to use the service.

  • Abusive or offensive communication: Any form of disrespectful, threatening, or offensive language towards our support staff.

5. Fair Use Principles

We consider "fair use" to be:

  • Reasonable volume: A number of support requests that is consistent with the typical personal IT needs of a senior household.

  • Personal use: Support for devices and software owned and used by the subscriber for personal, non-commercial purposes.

  • Good faith engagement: Users engaging with support staff in a cooperative and respectful manner.

6. Monitoring and Enforcement

We reserve the right to monitor usage patterns to identify potential breaches of this Policy. If we determine that a subscriber's use is inconsistent with this Policy, we may, at our sole discretion:

  1. Issue a warning: Inform the subscriber of the breach and request a change in usage.

  2. Limit service: Temporarily restrict or reduce the level of support provided.

  3. Suspend or terminate service: In cases of persistent or severe breaches, the service may be suspended or terminated without refund.

We will endeavor to communicate with affected subscribers before taking any drastic action.

7. Changes to the Policy
